Technology opportunities at LCA include Computer Lab for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Student's in Kindergarten through 5th grades attend a weekly half hour class. Students in Kindergarten through Third grades learn to use the Paint Progam. They learn how to use the color pallet and the tool menu effectively. They demonstrate their ability to use the software by creating projects for seasons or events. They begin basic typing skills as early as 2nd grade and students in 4th and 5th grades learn basic of Microsoft Word and Excel. Middle School students have Computers as part of their daily routine. Student's perfect their typing skills by using Mavis Beacon Typing Tutor at least 20 minutes a day. They each set a personal goal at the beginning of the school year and attempt to meet or exceed that goal by the end of the year.Sixth graders begin the next level of understanding Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point by completing their lesson modules. Seventh and Eighth graders demonstrate that understanding by finishing a variety of assignments in those programs. All Middle School students learn to manipulate digital photos using special picture software. Many creative projects are developed from that skill. (Some of these projects are displayed on the middle school page.) Students learn to design their own projects using software that creates newsletters, cards, posters and CD labels.
